Painting Chain Link Fence
Lay down drop cloths or pieces of cardboard on both sides of the chain link fence to prevent paint from dripping onto the ground below.

Slowly work the roller over the chain link reaching into tight bends and deep recesses. First remove any flaking paint rust or caked on grime with a wire brush. Painting a chain link fence can be a simple process but it s important to properly prepare the surface first.
If you notice paint pooling in the link creases there is too much paint on your roller. Most chain link fences start as a silver color but fence paint is available in a variety of colors. Roll the roller vertically and then horizontally along the chain link using only slight pressure to allow the deep nap to cover the inside portion of the links. Without proper preparation the new paint may flake and more rust may develop.
This is especially important if the fence is surrounded by grass or plants. Remove more on the pan before you continue. Step 2 scrape away any loosened or flaking paint with a wire brush.
