Osakazuki amoenum group is a vigorous upright tree with a rounded crown that typically grows to 15 18 tall over the first 10 years but eventually matures to as much as 20 25 tall. Its average texture blends into the landscape but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition. Thrives in dappled shade of woodland settings and in lightly shaded urban landscapes. It s perfect for growing as a focal point in the garden or in a mixed shrub border.
It has an open habit and large bright green leaves which turn a brilliant scarlet in autumn lasting for several weeks before falling. Acer palmatum osakazuki is one of the best japanese maples to grow for autumn colour. Rapidly growing to 18 feet in just ten years and eventually reaching 25 feet this tree is upright but rounded in form so it doesn t take up too much room. An excellent small specimen tree with gracefully branched stems and lovely deeply lobed bright green leaves that emerge olive orange in spring and turn a brilliant crimson red in the fall holding the color for several weeks.
